GUINEA
OUR IMPACT / GUINEA
The partnerships and projects AFO was part of in Guinea have helped support the community in their educational goals for the children who desperately need it most. These projects will continue to support the local children for years to come.
We partnered with Bls Foundation, which focuses on education in poverty-stricken areas of Conakry, Guinea. We pledged to support their mission of education for all children, especially girls who usually have limited access to education, children with special needs, and impoverished children.
The project in Guinea is currently a continuous effort with monthly funding support. The funding provides learning opportunities for about 168 children aged between 5 and 16. The children are glad to assemble at the school to avoid working on the farms.
- About 55% of Guinea’s population live below the poverty line.
- The World Food Program provides hot meals to 131,895 children.*
- Guinea’s infant mortality rate is the worst in the world, with 549 deaths per 100,000 live births.*
- About 24.4% of children experience chronic malnutrition due to widespread poverty.*
